Atlanta (Day 1)....
Flew out of Reagan National Friday afternoon, I landed in ATL around 5:20 PM. About 20 minutes earlier than I had anticipated. Anyway, I get here and Bam! The memories of the last years trip came rushing back and I wonder how will this weekend compare?? First on the venue: dropping of my luggage to my hotel and getting something to eat. So we hit the Renaissance (right behind the airport), drop my heavy ass bags off and head for Ruby Tuesdays. Met up with DG on the way to discuss what and where everything was happening. We get there (Ruby Tuesdays) and order the usual, Spinach Dip & Chips w/ a couple of shots of Patron.. Oh, I almost forgot a Cosmo for me. Mmmm, full a little buzzed we head back to the hotel to catch some zzzz's before the nights events.........

Venting....
Though I am thanking my kids don't attend a public school, for lack of better words THEY SUCK, I am still disappointed with the unorganized way the charter school they go to handled this snow day. I mean I get up at the butt crack of dawn to look for the listing of delays and school closures. I watch as the numbers go from 98 to 431 but none of them the one I'm looking for. Phone call after phone call goes straight to voice mail. My decision, keep them out or go on good faith that it will open on time. So... Off we go only to wind up banging on the door for what seemed like forever until a janitor let's us in. He proceeds to explain the school is on a 2hr delay and none of the teachers are expected to show until 10. I'm fuming inside asking myself why didn't they post this!! No phone call. No email. Nothing but a guessing game for us parents! So now I'm stuck in a cafeteria with several kids on a sugar high for the next 2 HOURS.... Taking your kids to school should never resemble home! Sheesh!!!!!

What Makes Or Breaks You....
Someone one once told me that in the Music Bizz all you have is your Rep and Credibility to offer. And that there will be times when both of those will be put on the chopping block or to the test so to speak. To see if you're going to stand amongst the Chaos or wither into the dark hole you once lived. There are decisions and choices you'll have to make to elude some of the craziness that comes with the territory. The goals you have set will be challenged and you will have to decide, will you Stand and Succeed or will you Wither and allow all that you have Bled and Sweat for Die. Better yet, will you put your life on the line for it??

All's Quiet on Campus..
The hustle and bustle of the week is over and many out of towners who decided to stay after the Inauguration have gone home. At last we Washintonians have our streets and sanity back. Though the shops in Georgetown loved the extra pedestrian traffic, we on the other hand , hated the bumper to bumper cars on M St.

The Day After......
Today is officially the first day on the job for our newly appointed President Barak Obama. I can't imagine the paperwork that must've flowed onto his desk this morning. The questions and decisions that he has been presented. I'm talking about the stuff even the media doesn't have access to. I'm wondering what's going on in his mind, his heart? Is he scared? Is his heart beating so hard it feels like it's gonna jump out of his chest? Has reality hit him as hard as it did most of us? Has who he is and what he means to this country sunk in? These questions I have because after all he is still a Man...

An Historical Time....
Living here in DC for most of my life i've seen many Inaugural Ceremonies. Some that have bought this country great success and some that have bought it nothing but heartache and poverty. But this years Inauguration seems to bring us hope of a different color. You see for me, the Swear In Ceremony means much more than what's instore for our ecomony. It means much more that just having a "Black" President. It means my son's can now say with pride "I can do and be anything as a man of color"! For them it shows how hard work and determination can surpass anything anyone has ever said could and would never be done. It shows that we as a people have more chances that not to live out our dreams, to be somebody ( taking those words from Dr. Martin Luther King himself). So you see for my family we celebrate for the possiblities of our future and that of our children's future. Who knows, maybe some day My Son will be President......It's possible.
